The second in a series of read-aloud sessions by the “Forty Stories, Forty Homes” group was held at Central BookCity, centring on Maurice Druon’s enduring children’s classic Tistou of the Green Thumbs. A creatively designed interactive activity brought the story’s messages of peace, beauty and individual responsibility into a shared experience for participants.
What distinguished the session was the way the unfolding story was connected to the audience’s active participation. As the book was read aloud—and in keeping with its story of Tistou covering the world in greenery and flowers—a canvas map of the world was displayed at the venue. Participants attached card flowers, which they had cut out and prepared in advance, to places of their choice on the map as symbols of peace and a more beautiful world. The activity gave tangible form to an inspiring idea: everyone can be a “Tistou” and play a part in improving their surroundings and bringing about positive change.
