A launch and discussion of *Women on Wheels* by April Streeter, translated into Persian by Mahsa Jazibi, was held at Central BookCity on Saturday evening, 18 July 2026. Organised in collaboration with Amoozeh Publishing, the event featured sociologist Najmeh Vahedi, cycle traveller Sara Rouhollahi, and the book’s translator, Mahsa Jazibi.
Many participants arrived by bicycle and parked their bikes outside Central BookCity, creating a visible connection between the gathering and the subject of the book. The discussion opened with an overview of the emergence and development of women’s cycling around the world. Mahsa Jazibi then spoke about the importance of revisiting this less frequently told chapter of history. Key themes included the influence of women’s cycling on social change, particularly changes in clothing and fashion, as well as the role of competitive cycling in enabling women of the period to earn an income and gain greater independence.
The discussion and question-and-answer session drew active participation from the audience. A range of perspectives on the historical and gender-related dimensions of the subject led to a focused exchange, during which Najmeh Vahedi drew on historical evidence to address the issues raised. Sara Rouhollahi also shared her personal experiences and the challenges she had encountered during her journeys as a cycle traveller, prompting numerous questions from the audience.
